Construction
Badges are made using the same processes and 2 layer laminated plastic materials as our Lased & Routed Engraving Stock lines, just smaller. For Lased badges the thin surface/background layer is vaporized by the laser beam to expose the contrasting color. Materials used must be designed to be laser engraved. Routed Engraving badges have the surface/background layer routed away. Materials designed to be lased, can also be routed. Additional letter colors can be painted in, but we will need to see a sketch to quote.
Art & Design
Due to the small size and fineness of the graphics on many badges it is not unusual to run into problems faithfully reproducing artwork using the routed process and materials. The laser can produce graphics about 5 times finer that the router. So, to avoid possible problems, use a Lased Engraving Stock color whenever possible.
Miscellany
The maximum badge size is 2”x4”. We can make them bigger, but you’ll need to call for a quote.
